William Othell Purvis, 75, of Trenton, Tennessee died on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the home of his son in Ridgely, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, December 14, 1949, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Othell Purvis, Sr. and the late Virginia Faye Torrence Purvis.
William was a true outdoorsman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved coon hunting, deer hunting, and fishing—especially those peaceful moments by the water. Some of his fondest memories were made at the family’s cabin on the Tennessee River near Parsons, Tennessee, where laughter and love were always in good supply.
He was a man of quiet strength and deep faith, attending Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Ridgely, Tennessee, where he found comfort and community.
William will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his hard work, and most of all, the time he cherished with his family. His legacy lives on in the stories told, the lessons shared, and the memories held close by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services for Mr. Purvis will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Pastor Tammy Gray. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery in the Cloverdale Community. Visitation for Mr. Purvis will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
