William David Nicks, 73, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, August 14, 1951, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Henley Nicks and the late Thelma Jean Pitts Palmer.
David was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He had a quiet love for nature, especially the peace and patience that came with fishing — a pastime he cherished deeply. Much like his father before him, David had a talent for working with his hands. He spent countless hours building, fixing, and tinkering, always finding satisfaction in making something useful or beautiful from scratch.
Cremation services for Mr. Nicks are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by one son, Michael Lynn Nicks (Emily) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Vicki Nicks of Dyersburg, Tennessee; his step-mother, Jo Nicks of Newbern, Tennessee; two step-brothers, Tommy Wright (Carla) of Newbern, Tennessee and Harold Wright of Newbern, Tennessee; two nieces, Stacey Cowles Wright (Justin) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Lindsay Davis (Mark) of Thompson Station, Tennessee; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lori Jean Reed Nicks; one son, Johnathan David Nicks and one brother, Lewis Barton "Bart" Palmer.
The family ask that memorial contributions be directed to the Community Cancer Fund, P. O. Box # 1055, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024 or the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 718 Union Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38103.
