William Gable, 80, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, December 13, 1944, in Dyer County, Tennessee to the late Clarence Gable and the late Sarah Williams Gable.
Mr. Gable served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and continued his commitment to service through his time in the Tennessee National Guard. His dedication extended to his local community as well, working with the Dyersburg Fire Department for twenty-seven years. He was deeply respected for his unwavering work ethic, courage, and loyalty.
A man who truly appreciated the simple joys of life, William was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and spend time in his garden. He took great pride in his role as what he often called the "#1 garden grower" — not for recognition, but for the joy of giving away the fruits of his labor to others.
William also had a deep love for country music, often filling the backyard with the sounds of his favorite songs played loudly for anyone nearby to enjoy. He found happiness in the outdoors, in the rhythm of country tunes, and in sharing what he had with those around him.
Funeral services for Mr. Gable will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Julian Huey.
