Wanda Renea Rickman, 60, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Maplewood Health Care in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Saturday, January 16, 1965, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Barney Hopper and the late Ellie Ree Thomas Hopper. She was the former custodian at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee and also Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family—especially her son Brandon, daughter-in-law Brandy, and precious granddaughter Ellie Claire. Wanda had a special bond with Brandon, who often said she was the best mama anyone could ever ask for and that she always had his back.
Wanda was a woman of deep faith who loved attending church and never missed a good gospel singing. She found great joy in music that lifted the spirit and brought people together. Wanda was also known for her talent in the kitchen—whether she was cooking a comforting meal or baking something sweet, she put her heart into everything she made. Her family and friends always looked forward to her delicious dishes.
Wanda had a passion for traveling, especially when it meant going with her family—including her extended family. Whether it was a short getaway or a longer journey, she cherished every moment spent making memories with those she loved.
Though she had only one child, Wanda was affectionately known as "Mama" to many. Her caring nature, open heart, and motherly spirit touched countless lives and made everyone feel like family.
In her spare time, Wanda enjoyed shopping and finding little treasures to share with others. Her kind spirit, joyful laugh, and unwavering love will be missed by all who knew her.
