Wanda Gail Ashley Obituary

Wanda Gail Ashley, 77, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Monday, September 15, 2025, at her residence.

Born Tuesday, April 13, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Curtis and the late Mae Smothers Curtis.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and kindness touched everyone she met. Wanda was a true angel on earth. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family - her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and warm smile will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. She had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and especially loved flowers, which brightened her home and her spirit and enjoyed watching hummingbirds. Her family fondly recalls that Wanda was the best cook—her kitchen always filled with the comforting aromas of good old country soul food. She was known for many dishes, but her green beans were simply unmatched and will be remembered by all who were blessed to gather around her table.

Wanda also enjoyed spending time with friends and family playing bingo and never missed a chance to line dance. Her legacy will live on in the traditions she created the meals she prepared with love, and the joy she brought into so many lives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ashley will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Bro. Mac Daniels. Visitation will be held from1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Thursday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessie Ashley; one son, Bobby Lee Ashley; two brothers, Billy Curtis and Ernest Hugh Curtis and one sister, Virginia Haley.
