Tommy Wright Obituary

Tommy Wright, 66, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, May 5, 1959, in Union City, Tennessee he was the son of the late Carl Edward Wright and the late William Henley and Mary Josephine "Jo" Nicks.

Tommy was a hardworking man who spent his life doing what he loved and doing it well. For 38 years, he was self-employed as a contractor who worked side by side with his brother as co-owner of Wright Brothers Construction. The two shared not only a business, but a special bond as brothers and partners, building more than homes and projects through the years—they built a lifetime of memories together and a reputation for honest work and dedication.

Tommy had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved riding horses and found great joy in the fellowship and tradition of attending the St. Jude Ride each year, as well as spending time at the Newbern Saddle Club. He also enjoyed riding his side-by-side with his grandkids, as well as his daily sunset ride with his wife, and never passed up a chance to be outdoors.

Tommy was a man of simple tastes and strong loyalties. He loved listening to The Beatles and was a devoted fan of 92.3 FM—so much so that you had better not change the station. It became a love shared with his daughter, who still treasures that music and those memories because of him. Tommy was also a lifelong fan of John Wayne movies and the Dallas Cowboys, enjoying both with the same loyalty and enthusiasm he gave to everything he loved. Tommy also shared a special bond with his faithful companion, his beloved dog, Little Bit, who held a special place in his heart.

More than anything, Tommy will be remembered for his love for family, and the many special memories he made with those who knew and loved him.
