Susan Dozier Obituary

Susan Turner Dozier, 70, of Ridgely, Tennessee died on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at her residence in Ridgely, Tennessee.

Born Thursday, October 14, 1954, in Ridgely, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elmer Turner and the late Jo Carolyn Stockton Turner. She was a woman of faith, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Susan was deeply rooted in her faith and attended Mooring Baptist Church until its closure, where she faithfully served as the church pianist for many years. Her love for music and worship was a testament to her devotion to the Lord, a passion she carried throughout her life.

A trailblazer in her career, she made history as the first female dispatcher for the Lake County Sheriff's Department, paving the way for many women in law enforcement. Her dedication to serving others continued as she pursued her dream of owning her own florist shop, where she brought joy and beauty into the lives of many with her creative floral arrangements. Even after retirement, her entrepreneurial spirit remained strong, and she went on to own and operate C & D Café in Ridgely, TN, where she welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness.

Mrs. Dozier was a woman of faith and family. She lived by the principle of putting God first in all that she did. Her strong family ties and unwavering love for those around her were evident in every aspect of her life. Whether through her music, her work, or her generosity, she touched the lives of many and left a legacy of love and devotion that will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Service for Mrs. Dozier will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Ridgely, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. Ronnie Turner. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Cottonwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her beloved son, Woody Joe Dozier of Ridgely, Tennessee two aunts, Jan Platt (Richard) of Union City, Tennessee, Theresa Marvin; one niece, Angela Joann Evans (Rich)of Arkansas; one nephew Charles Preston Turner (Tania) of Wisconsin, as well as many dear friends who cherished her deeply
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Woody Dozier; one brother, Charles Mack Turner; thirteen aunts and uncles and the husband of her aunt, John Marvin.
