Sue Morgan Cherry Obituary

Sue Morgan Cherry, 85 of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, September 19, 1939, in Brighton, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Wilmont Alexander "Alex" Morgan and the late Bera Elaine Johnson Morgan.

Sue was a beloved mother, grandma, friend and neighbor, she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unforgettable meals. She was the heart of every holiday gathering, known far and wide for her legendary cooking—especially her dressing, which her family insists was the best on the planet.

Sue had a heart as generous as her table. No one ever stepped foot in her home without being asked, “Are you hungry?” And if you were, you wouldn’t be for long. Her kitchen was her special place, and through her food, she poured love into everyone lucky enough to know her.

A true Southern soul, Sue had a few non-negotiables in life: a tidy yard, her Goo Goo Clusters, and Days of Our Lives. Everything stopped when that show came on, and heaven help you if you interrupted it. She took pride in her home, especially her yard, which she mowed herself well into her 80th year—finding peace and purpose in working outdoors.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cherry will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Chaplin J. R. Prater.
