Sue Akin Obituary

Esther Sue Akin, 92, peacefully went to her eternal home on Oct. 15, 2020 where she was joyfully reunited with her loving husband of 72 years.

Affectionately known by almost everyone who knew her as Mama Sue, she was born on Dec. 9, 1927 to Elvis and Johnnie Austin. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Newbern until her health prevented it.

Mama Sue spent her entire life as a housewife, stay at home mom and was always involved in every activity each one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was a part of. She lived a long, fun filled life, enjoying many things such as horseback riding, square dancing, traveling, sewing for all the girls in the family from the very first to the very last one and one of her favorite things- cooking for her big family and a host of friends. Her family was everything to her
