Sheila Gail Cecil Obituary

Sheila Gail Cecil, 72, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Methodist Hospice House in Memphis, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, February 20, 1954, in Gibson County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Everett Glen Garner and the late Ellen Louise Smith Garner.

Sheila lived her life to the fullest—embracing each day with the spirit of the Tim McGraw song “Live Like You Were Dying.” Her joyful outlook and appreciation for life’s simple blessings left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Mrs. Cecil was a dedicated bookkeeper for Ashley, Ashley & Arnold, where she worked faithfully for many years before her retirement. She was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the many friendships she formed with coworkers along the way.

A proud graduate of Yorkville High School, Sheila cherished the lifelong friendships she made there. She and her classmates remained close throughout the years, affectionately calling themselves the “YaYa” friends, continuing to gather and share laughter, memories, and special moments.

She had a deep love for travel, with the beach holding a special place in her heart. Sheila found peace and joy in nature, especially in the beauty of sunrises and sunsets—moments she loved to capture through her photography, preserving memories of the world she so deeply appreciated.

Above all, she treasured her role as “Nina.” She was a devoted and enthusiastic supporter of her grandchildren, attending their events and celebrating their achievements, creating countless cherished memories with them.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cecil will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in the Chapel Of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.   Officiating the service will be Bro.
