Sharon Eason, 71, of Jackson, Tennessee, died on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, after a brief illness.
Sharon was born on March 29, 1952, in Owensboro, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Elmore English O’Banion, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Frizzell O’Banion. Sharon earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She enjoyed a successful career and retired as a librarian with the West Tennessee School for the Deaf.
She is survived by her devoted son, John Buxton Gulley, IV (Allison) of Corryton, Tennessee, three grandchildren, Amelia Gulley, Dylan Gulley and Cade Gulley; one brother, Elmore English O’Banion, Jr. (Barbara) of Collierville, Tennessee; two sisters, Deedra Hendry (Robby) of Soso, Mississippi, and Tina Green (Janet) of Vine Grove, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Denise Barrett and Teresa Glass. Sharon was an extremely loving and giving person always willing to help others in need. Over the last few years, her health began to decline. She was graciously cared for by her son John, who relocated her to Knoxville, Tennessee so that she could be closer to her grandchildren. Besides the love and support provided by John, the family would like to recognize the care and assistance provided by the staff of The Pointe at Lifespring Senior Living facility in Knoxville.
