Sebern William Curtis, Jr., 72, of Friendship, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Oakwood Community Living Center in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born, Wednesday, March 19, 1952, in Crockett County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Sebern William Curtis, Sr. and the late Willie Lou Wyatt Curtis. Mr. Curtis lived his entire life in the farming community and was a retired farmer for Walker Farms in Friendship, Tennessee. When he wasn't in the field farming you could find him at his favorite fishing hole. He enjoyed watching western movies and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He will be remembered as a prankster who would always have the last laugh. He was devoted to his family and considered his daughter, April, his greatest blessing until his grandson, Mason was born. The times that he shared with his family were the memories that he cherished the most.
Funeral services for Mr. Curtis will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Mr. Dewey Shawver. Interment will follow at Bellevernon Cemetery in Friendship, Tennessee. Visitation for Mr. Curtis will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by his daughter, April Shawver (Clint) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four sisters, Doris Puckett of Friendship, Tennessee, Joyce Lawless of Eddyville, Kentucky; Mert Guin of Friendship, Tennessee and Mary Cantrell (Gary) of Ridgely, Tennessee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shelia Thornton and Dale Thornton and he was affectionately known as "PawPaw" to his grandson, Mason Shawver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Gillon Curtis and four sisters, Billie Marie Beasley, Artie Lou Curtis Johnson, Wanda Curtis Williams and Julie Madden.
Honoring Mr. Curtis as pallbearers will be Mason Shawver, Clint Shawver, Dewey Shawver, Taylor Walker, Dewayne Curtis, Joseph Curtis, Rowdy Curtis, and Jon Michael Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be April Shawver, Dale Thornton, Steve Lambert, and Terry Curtis.
