Russell Hilliard, 90, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, August 19, 1931 in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William David Hilliard and the late Mollie Garrison Hilliard. Mr. Hilliard was a retired employee of the State of Tennessee Highway Engineer Department. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a dedicated member of Lemalsamac Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mr. Hilliard will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2022 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. Alan Sims. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation for Mr. Hilliard will be held on Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Tim Rose (Paula) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, W. D. Hilliard of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Ola Mae Hawks of Conway, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Jeanne Rose of Ashland City, Tennessee and four grandchildren, James Rose of Nashville, Tennessee, Benjamin Rose of Ashland City, Tennessee; Cody Rose of Newbern, Tennessee and Catelyn James (Maurice) of Cheyenne, Wyoming and one great-granddaughter, London James of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Dodson Hilliard; one son, Dr. Alvin C. Rose and two sisters, Betty Manley and Ella Hungerford and one brother, Leonard Hilliard.
Honoring Mr. Hilliard as pallbearers will be David Hawks, Jimmy Hawks, Perry Nichols, Rusty Hilliard, Maurice James and Keith French.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers and food that memorial contributions be directed to Lemalsamac Church of Christ, % Alan Sims, 3631 Bethlehem Road, Newbern, Tennessee.
