Rosa Burdin Gipson, 86, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Okeena Health and Rehabilitation of Dyersburg Tennessee.
Born Monday, April 10, 1939, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Edmon Burden and the late Bessie Roberts Burdin.
Rosa spent the majority of her working life in retail sales, where she brought warmth and dedication to every role she took on. She worked at Graber’s and J.C. Penney and served as manager of Cato for several years. Later, she found deep joy working in the cafeteria at Newbern Elementary School, where she could be close to two of her grandchildren and take an active part in their daily lives.
She and her husband were faithful members of Dyersburg First Assembly, where they raised their family and remained active in the church for many years. In later years, Rosa became a member of Three Oaks Baptist Church, continuing her life of faith and fellowship.
Rosa and her beloved husband shared sixty-eight beautiful years of marriage. Together, they created countless joyful memories, especially through their shared love of square dancing—Rosa even made their outfits by hand, a reflection of her creative spirit and attention to detail.
She will be lovingly remembered for her ever-present smile, her infectious laughter, and the way she lit up every room she entered. Her love for her family will continue to live in their hearts as they reflect on her life and the legacy she leaves.
Cremation services for Mrs. Gipson are under the care of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Steven Edward Gipson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Cindy Taylor (Terry) of RoEllen, Tennessee and Linda Snider (Kevin) of Troy, Illinois; one sister, Genevieve Jones of Dyersburg, Tennessee and she was "Granny" to her six grandchildren, Thomas Taylor, Joey Taylor, Samantha Hediger (Payton), Zachary Snider (Tina), Beth Anne Eilers (Luke) and Steven Edward Gipson, II (Kristen) and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and soulmate Charles Edward Gipson; one granddaughter, Ashley Gipson: two brothers, Sammy Burden and Robert Burden and four sisters, Lillian Haddock, Hazel Jones, Juanita Alexander Moody and Ruth Hendren.
