Ronnie Joe Featherston Obituary

Ronnie Joe Featherston, 73, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, August 4, 2025, at his residence.

Born Wednesday, February 6, 1952, in Newbern, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Stanley Featherston and the late Edna Ashley Featherston. Ronnie was the youngest of their four children. After graduating from Dyer County High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Davis, on July 4, 1971.

He worked for the City of Newbern before starting his own business of buying and restoring old houses.  Ronnie was retired from the Developmental Skills Center, where he worked as a van driver and staff support. He truly loved the clients he served and considered it an honor to transport them to their activities. After retirement, Ronnie continued to stay busy by refurbishing homes. He was a true handyman who took great pride in his work, always approaching each project with skill and care.

An avid reader, Ronnie had a passion for books of all kinds and often had three or four going at once. He also enjoyed taking long rides through the countryside, soaking in the beauty of the land and watching the crops grow and change with the seasons. These simple pleasures brought him peace, especially when shared with his beloved wife, Brenda. The two spent countless hours riding the backroads together, enjoying each other’s company and the world around them.

Above all, Ronnie loved his family deeply. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandson, Case, who held a very special place in his heart.

Cremation services for Mr. Featherston are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Featherston will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Brenda Davis Featherston of Newbern, Tennessee, one son, Adam Featherston (Karin) of Newbern, Tennessee; one sister Betty Gail Anderson of Newbern, Tennessee and he was "Grand-Daddy" to his grandson, Case Featherston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. J. D. Featherston and his wife Shirley; one sister, Rose Bevis and her husband Ed; brother-in-law, Tommy Anderson; two nieces, Martha Stockton and Cindy McCann and a great-niece, Jessica King.
