Roger Jowers, 60, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Thursday, November 9, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Robert Clyde Jowers and the late Peggy Evelyn Williams Jowers. Mr. Jowers was a former contractor with Forcum Lannom Construction. He was a dedicated first responder for the Dyer County Rescue Squad for fifteen years and served as Chaplain for ten years. In 2017, he was presented the Star Of Life Pin by former State Representative Bill Sanderson. Mr. Jowers proudly served his country in the Tennessee National Guard.
Funeral services for Mr. Jowers will be held at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Stephen Sutton. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Arlene Denison Jowers of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Scottey Cravins (Katy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Rhonda Wells of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Candace Riggins (Chris) of Newbern, Tennessee; three brothers, Mark Steven Jowers of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Bart Jowers (Tammy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Tony Jowers of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Diane Ohmann of Gary, Illinois and he was "Pops" to his ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert A. Jowers and his son-in-law, Richard Edward Wells.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund, P. O. Box # 1055, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
