Rocky Lane Foster, 72, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Friday, September 26, 1952, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Luther Lee Foster and the late Seveler Marie Scott Foster.
Rocky began his career in public service with the Dyer County Sheriff's Department, where he laid the foundation for a life dedicated to protecting and serving others. He went on to join the Newbern Police Department, where he proudly served for nineteen years. Throughout his career, Rocky was known for his deep commitment to his work, his quick wit, and his natural ability to connect with people. A true people person, he had a kind heart, a ready smile, and a gift for putting others at ease. Rocky brought warmth and professionalism to everything he did. He was not only respected by his fellow officers but genuinely liked by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Outside of work, Rocky enjoyed staying active. He was an avid runner and found peace and joy in deer hunting, a passion that allowed him to spend quiet time in nature.
Funeral services for Mr. Foster will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 12, 205, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Ronnie Turner. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Visitation for Mr. Foster will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-one years, Kathy Jean Vaughn Foster of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, Rocky Jason Foster(Cherish) of Jackson, Tennessee; one daughter, Stephanie Lane Cox (Jeremy Lowe) of Clarksville, Tennessee; one brothers, Luther Foster, Jr. (Karen) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four sisters, Modine Brown of Mary Esther, Florida, Joannie Parish(James) of Newbern, Tennessee, Anna Stewart (Steve) of Ridgely, Tennessee and Bobbie Crosno (James) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and he "PawPaw" to his three grandchildren, Destiny Marie Foster, Joshua Lane Foster and Lunden Maebree Lowe
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford Foster, Marvin Foster, Kenneth Foster and Loyd "Bo" Foster and three sisters, Lois Younger, Geneva Ragsdale and Carolyn Foster.
Honoring Mr. Foster as pallbearers will be Jake Tims, David Hamblin, Greg Barr, Danny Tippitt, Ricky Baggett and Danny Baggett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rodger Bledsoe and Lucas Kurdzille.
The family ask that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
