Richard G. French

Richard G. French, 59, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Thursday, September 27, 1962, in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late George Glen French and the late Marie Kyle French. Mr. French was the manager of Consolidated Crane of Union City, Tennessee.  He had an interest in many sports, especially Girls' Softball; this was evident by the coaching positions that he held at Newbern Junior High, Dyer County High School, Three Oaks Middle School and Dyersburg Middle School.  Mr .French also coached the Girls' Softball Travel teams, Edward Jones Spirit and Full Throttle. He considered it an honor to share his love of the game with the girls that he was privileged to have coached through the years.

Funeral services for Mr. French will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 12, 2022, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. Jeff Hudson. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery near Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation for Mr. French will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, of forty years, Tammy French of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Preston French (Catybeth) of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Paige Sego (Josh) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one brother, Scott French (Cindy) of Newbern, Tennessee; two sisters, Nicole Forsythe of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Dana Marie Simpson (Chris) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and he was "Poppy" to his three grandchildren, Emma French, Maverick Sego and Maggie Sego.

Honoring Mr. French as pallbearers will be Tim Pope, Mitch Pope, Neil Popejoy, Mason Forsythe, Jacob Hudson, Evan Via and Johnny Funderburk.

The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee  38105-9959.
