Phyllis Snyder Obituary

Phyllis Ann Snyder, 74 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee

Born Wednesday, July 5, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Sam K. Partin and the late Claudia Sweat Partin of Monteagle, TN.

Ms. Snyder, beloved owner of The Cake Shop in Dresden, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of sweetness, creativity, and community spirit.

Ms. Snyder was the former owner of The Cake Shop in Dresden, Tennessee. She was known throughout the area for her beautiful and delicious cakes and catering. Ms. Snyder poured her heart into every creation. From elegant wedding tiers to cheerful birthday confections, school spirit celebration cakes for the sports teams and Dresden Marching Band. She was very proud of the opportunity to provide a decorated cake for Gov. Ned Ray McWherter’s inauguration. Her work brought joy to countless celebrations and touched the lives of many.

She was raised in Monteagle, Tennessee, and graduated from Grundy County High School and then attended Ut Knoxville. She often spoke fondly of her childhood there and treasured her roots of her hometown.

Cremation services for Ms. Snyder are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Graveside services for Ms. Snyder will be held Saturday, May 31 at 1:00 at Monteagle Cemetery in Monteagle, Tennessee.  

She is survived by her two daughters, Leigh-Ann Davis (Jerry) of Kenton, Tennessee and Rachel Smith of Rutherford, Tennessee; one brother, Louis Partin (Ann) of Greenville, South Carolina. She was "Grams" to her six grandchildren, Luke Davis, Adam Davis, Reagan Davis, Kennedy Smith, Wilson Smith and Snyder Smith. She was loved by her nephew and niece, Andy Partin and Renee Partin White and Great-nephew, Drew Partin White.
