Peggy Jean Weathers

Peggy Jean Weathers, 76, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at her residence.

Born Monday, August 15, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Emory Lee Weathers and the late Nancy Virginia Shaw Weathers.

 She dedicated much of her life to caring for children and the elderly, serving as a steady, gentle presence in the lives of those who needed her most. Many children grew up under her watchful eye, and many families found peace knowing their loved ones were in her capable and compassionate hands. She treated those she cared for as her own, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Cremation services for Mrs. Weathers are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by one son, Tony "Cooter" McCann of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two  daughters, Vickie McCann-Owsley (Ken) of Jackson, Tennessee and Virginia McCann of Clearwater, Florida; one brother, Donald Lee Weathers (Tammy) of  Hoolio, Georiga; two sisters, Brenda Kehoe of Calhoun, Georgia and Nancy Jennings of Adairsville, Georgia; two grandchildren, Ann Ashley McCann and Hunter Allen McCann and two great-grandchildren.
