Peggy A. Davis

Peggy Ann Davis, 88, of Temple, Georgia, formerly of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the home of her daughter.

Born Monday, March 29, 1937, in Newbern, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Walter Harrison Rice and the late Millie Josephine Douglas Rice. 

Peggy and her husband, Arvel were married for 57 years, when he went home to be with the Lord. She and Arvel enjoyed their winters in Arizona and visiting with family and friends. Peggy was an avid competitor in golf, bowling, playing cards, and loved to fish. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Her most treasured times were spent with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was known as "Grandmother" to all, but "Mom" to her great-granddaughter, Khloe.

Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Chuck Sickles. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one  daughter, Deshion Davis Weatherly of Temple, Georgia; one son, Edgar Ray Davis of Newbern, Tennessee seven grandchildren; Chris Davis (Tayler), Alison Davis Carroll (Timothy), Parker Davis, Jeff Weatherly (Beth), Todd Weatherly (Jenny), Lauren Weatherly Stephens (Timmy), David Weatherly (Chelsey) as well as her great-grandchildren; Paisley Davis, Olivia Carroll, Justin Weatherly, Hannah Weatherly, Kane Weatherly, Raelyn Weatherly, Abigail Stephens, Khloe Stephens, Wyatt Weatherly, and Sawyer Weatherly. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arvel Davis; two sisters, Louise Rice Oleson and Velma Rice Hair and five brothers, George W. Rice, Doug Rice, Alvin Rice, Edgar Rice and Howard Rice.

Honoring Mrs. Davis as pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Todd Weatherly, David Weatherly, Timmy Stephens, Kane Weatherly and Timothy Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Paisley Davis, Olivia Carroll, Justin Weatherly, Hannah Weatherly, Raelyn Weatherly, Abigail Stephens, Khloe Stephens, Wyatt Weatherly and Sawyer Weatherly.
