Patsy J. Simmons

Patsy J. Simmons, 95, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, February 12, 1927, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Allen A. Johnson and the late Ruth McCage Johnson. Mrs. Simmons was a retired secretary for Tigrett and Shibley Insurance. She was a devoted member of Newbern Methodist Church for over sixty years and a member of the United Methodist Women.  Mrs. Simmons was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Mulherin Post 85.

Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Newbern Methodist Church with Rev. Tyler Neeley officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation for Mrs. Simmons will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM both to be held at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Joel Simmons, Jr. (Sascha) of Erie, Colorado; three daughters, Alma Ruth Michael (Jimmy) of Newbern, Tennessee, Patricia Jarvis (Kip) of O'Fallon, Missouri and Jane Lamb (Mark) of Newbern, Tennessee: a niece, Judy Gibbs Gregory of Newbern, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of sixty-seven years, Joel H. Simmons, Sr., one son, Jon Gardner Simmons and one grand-daughter, Melinda Ann "Missy" Michael.

Honoring Mrs. Simmons as pallbearers will be Joseph Jarvis, Elliot Lamb, Jacob Stewart, Josh Stewart, Jack Smith, Jason Stewart, Zack Smith and Ronnie Barron.

The family ask that memorial contributions be directed to Newbern Methodist Church, P. O. Box # 72, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.

The family would like to say a special thank-you to Belinda Jean Carroll, Faye Cooper, Mary Virginia Vaughn, Rhonda Sandlin and Michelle McQuarters for the love and care that they gave to Mrs. Simmons and their entire family.
