Patricia Frances Featherston Davidson Obituary

Patricia Frances Featherston Davidson, 84, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, March 30, 2026, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

She was born on September 27, 1941, in Newbern, Tennessee, to the late Willis Napoleon Featherston and the late Lorene Leach Featherston.

Pat was a graduate of Newbern High School and went on to further her education at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she was a charter member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She later earned her master’s degree, from the University of Tennessee also.

Teaching wasn’t just a job to Pat—it was her calling. Pat started her teaching career in Omaha, Nebraska in 1963. She then returned home where she spent fifty more years in education with the Dyersburg City School System. After retirement she continued to follow her passion for education through consulting educators and returned to the Dyersburg City Schools where she provided intervention services until January 2025.  She touched the lives of countless students through the years. In 1991, she received teacher of the year honors at Dyersburg Intermediate School, Dyersburg City Schools and Northwest Tennessee.

Because of her love for children, she served as Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader for several years.

If you knew Pat, you knew her family was her whole world. Wherever her children and grandchildren were, that’s where you’d find Pat and Sonny. Ballgames, races, school events, or just time spent together—she wouldn’t have missed it for anything. Her home was always open, and she made sure anyone who walked through her door was fed as well as felt welcomed and loved.

Pat was a devoted member of Cornerstone Church of God, where she served faithfully in many roles over the years. She gave her time as Sunday School Education Director and made history as the only woman ever appointed to the church’s council.

Signal Mountain Church Camp held a special place in her heart. Since 1978, she returned year after year,  helping guide young people in their faith. It was one of her greatest joys.

Pat also loved to travel, especially when it meant making memories with her family. Some of her favorite places were Chincoteague, Virginia, and Daytona Beach, Florida—places filled with laughter, stories, and time spent together.
