Nancy Jewell Moore

At the age of 94, Nancy Jewell Moore passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020. She was born to Clyde and Dewey White on August 30, 1926 as one of seven children in the White family.

She married Robert William Braswell in 1947, and they lived together in Millington, Tennessee. Together they raised three children, Robert William Braswell, Jr., Rita Braswell Norvell, and Judith Anne Braswell. Nancy later married Wilfred “Al” Moore in 1979 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She and Al eventually moved to Newbern, Tennessee – a town where she established a home and built a vibrant, loving community over the past three decades.

Nancy is survived by her sister Betty Cuneo, three children, and grandchildren-including her grandsons, Louie Norvel, Chris Norvell, and Jamie Lonie, her granddaughters, Christie Fitzhugh, Amanda Coley-Burress, Amy Polk; and two great-granddaughters, Bailey and Emma Norvell.].

In her lifetime, Nancy worked in several retail roles in West Tennessee and retired from the Navy Exchange in Millington. She was also an active member of the Dyer Country community, serving as a mentor to many and supporting the parish at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Most importantly, she served as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who was always willing to lend wisdom and wit to all those who knew her.

In her final days, she reminded her loved ones of her favorite Bible verse, John 14:27, saying:

“Let not your heart be troubled, and neither let it be afraid.”

On Friday, January 8, a socially-distanced visitation will be held at 2:00 P.M.at Holy Angels church followed by a funeral mass at 3:00 P.M.
