Michael Allen Montgomery, Sr., 77, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, November 23, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Euly Levigar Montgomery and the late Gladys Franks Montgomery Duke.

Mr. Montgomery was the owner of M & M HVAC and Electric, where he spent many years providing honest, dependable work to those he served. Through his business, he built lasting relationships and earned the trust and respect of countless customers and friends.

A faithful and devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Mr. Montgomery’s life was a reflection of his strong beliefs, and he remained committed to his faith throughout his life.

In his younger years, Mr. Montgomery was a poet, and later in life he found joy in songwriting, taking great pride in his creative accomplishments. He also spent time in his life flying as a pilot. In his leisure time, he was an avid metal detector treasure hunter, especially enjoying the search for Civil War relics—a hobby that brought him much happiness.

Funeral services for Mr. Montgomery will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 3, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Loren Stephens. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Friday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM both at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty seven years, Janice Dianne Pierce Montgomery of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one  son, Mike Montgomery, Jr. of Arlington, Tennessee, one brother, David Montgomery (Martha Jo) of Bogota, Tennessee; one step-sister, Doris Duke Gamez of Dyersburg, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Cathey Lou Montgomery of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two grandsons, Michael Montgomery, III and Samuel A. Montgomery and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members that he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Michelle Montgomery and three brothers, Harry Daniel Montgomery, J. T. "Tommy" Montgomery and Terry Frances Montgomery and his wife Cathey.

Honoring Mr. Montgomery as pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, Lynn Johnson, Grant Montgomery, Ryan Wright, Michael Montgomery, III, and Sam Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hoggard, Tim Windle, James Earl Johnson. Liam Lynch, Wes Upchurch and Shawn Criswell.
