Melvin Jewel Phillips

Melvin Jewel Phillips, 80, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Dyersburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Thursday, February 15, 1945,  in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Elton Jewel Phillips and the late Georgie Christian Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a retired farmer and Baptist by faith.

Graveside services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Bro. Royce McGuire.  Visitation for Mr. Phillips will be  held on Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Hollis (Justin) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one brother, Andrew Phillips (Jennifer Wilson) of Dyersburg, Tennessee: two sisters, Linda Phillips of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Brenda French of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Taylar Phillips and Christopher Conner; two step-grandchildren, Cory Dewayne Hollis and Breanna Brook Hollis and a host of extended family that he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Bradley Phillips; five brothers, Jimmy Phillips, Ronald Phillips, Larry Phillips, William Phillips and Harold Phillips and one  sister, Deborah Diane Patterson.
