Melissa Cristella Starnes, 68, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Friday, June 22, 1956, in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Ziados Edgar Pride and the late Mary Claire Jackson Pride. Mrs. Starnes was a former employee of Colonial Rubber Works in Dyersburg, Tennessee and Texas Air Composite in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Cremation services for Mrs. Starnes are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by one son, Coleman Hunter Starnes of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, Lester Pride (Loretta) of Newbern, Tennessee, Luther Edgar Pride (Beth) of McKenzie, Tennessee and Steven Edgar Pride(Maggie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sisters, Joyce Colson of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Mary Kay Jasin (Robert) of Finley, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Patty Wright of Valliant, Oklahoma, brother-in-law Michael Starnes (Martha) of Howe, Oklahoma and Marvene Starnes of Valliant, Oklahoma.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Ray Starnes, father-in-law, Donald Starnes and brother, Charles Steven Pride.
