Melda Joy Morris

Melda Joy Morris, 80, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Friday, March 24, 1944 in Trimble, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Talmage Morris and the late Lucille Pope Morris. Ms. Morris was a retired teacher for the Dyer County School System where she worked several years at Dyer County Central and Finley Elementary.  She was a member of the Yorkville Church of Christ.  Without a doubt, at the center of her life was her family.

Funeral services for Ms. Morris will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Mr. Jon Morris. Interment will follow at Yorkville Cemetery in Yorkville, Tennessee. Visitation for Ms. Morris will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Wednesday  from 10:00 AM until service time at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee.

She is survived by one brother, Ricky T. Morris, Sr. (Diane) of Newbern, Tennessee; two nieces, Donna Rapert (Ronnie) of Newbern, Tennessee; and Dorian Kirk (Michael) of Newbern, Tennessee and three nephews, Ricky T. Morris, II. (Alana) of Greenbrier, Tennessee, Jon Morris (Katie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and David Daniel of Dyer, Tennessee.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janey Roberts and Mary Edith Morris.

Honoring Ms. Morris as pallbearers will be family and friends.
