Mary Jo Lock Owen

Mary Jo Lock Owen, affectionately known as "Mama Jo", 94, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at AHC of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Friday, April 5, 1929, in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late T.C. Lock and the late Nora Thedford Lock. Mrs. Owen was a former self-employed beautician.  She loved all animals and will be remembered for her sweet smile and kind personality, She was a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lock will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 2, 2023, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.  Officiating this service will be Bro. Serge Shoemaker. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. The family request that everyone wear casual attire.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Pat Owen (Patrica) of Newbern, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Faye Owen of Dyersburg, Tennessee; she was "Mama Jo" to her five grandchildren, Brandon Owen (Tanya), Holly Fenton (Daryl), Beverly Hahn (Jacob), Kim Owen and Doug Weatherly; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Junior" Owen, Jr. and one son, Kerry Owen. 

Honoring Mrs. Owen as pallbearers will be Brandon Owen, Doug Weatherly, Colton Fenton, Jacob Jackson, Sean Jackson and Blake Fenton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed the charity of their choice.
