Mary Beth Powers, 46, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Thursday, September 6, 1979, in Winfield, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Anthony Powers and Kathy Louise Jenkins Nielsen.
Mary Beth will be remembered most for the joy she found in being a mother. Of all the things she loved in life, nothing compared to the love she had for her sons, and the special bond and the memories they shared.
She enjoyed all kinds of music—especially soul, R&B, and rap. Her favorite artist was Prince, and she was one of his biggest fans. She also loved the music of Michael Jackson.
She found peace and happiness in nature. She especially enjoyed camping trips with Link, where they explored the outdoors and made lasting memories together. Mary Beth enjoyed watching movies and was an avid Tetris player, finding simple joy in life’s little pleasures.
Cremation services for Mary Beth are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Jared Shawn Tribe of Memphis, Tennessee and Link Orion Gooch of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her mother, Kathy Louise Jenkins Nielsen of Newbern, Tennessee; two brothers, Glen Nielsen of Newbern, Tennessee and John Powers of Newbern, Tennessee and one half-sister, Amy Miller of Kentucky.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Powers and one half-sister, Jodi Powers.
