Mary Hyer Obituary

Mary Ann Hyer, 86 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Okeena Health and Rehabilitation of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, November 14, 1939, in Giles County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late W. S. Wales and Cleo Weldon Wales.

Mary Ann was a former nurse’s aide at the Bells Nursing Home in Bells, Tennessee, where she was known for the love, compassion, and gentle care she gave to each resident. She considered her work more than a job—it was a calling. Her warm smile and tender heart brought comfort to many families during their most difficult times.

Above all, Mary Ann loved her children and grandchildren. She was deeply thankful for every moment shared and every memory made together. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured each of them beyond measure.

Mary Ann was known to have a bit of a sweet tooth and rarely turned down a special treat. She also enjoyed drinking coffee, especially during quiet mornings. In her peaceful moments, she enjoyed listening to audiobooks, finding comfort and enjoyment in the stories she heard.

Her daughter-in-law, Brenda, lovingly shared that Mary Ann was always appreciative and thankful for anything done for her. Gratitude was simply part of who she was. She never took kindness for granted and expressed thanks in both words and actions.
