Margot Wingert Obituary

Margot Deane Wingert, age 90, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi.

Margot was born on January 2, 1930 to the late Clyde Edward Jones and the late Verl Brown Jones in Ottumwa, Iowa. While living in Batesville, Margot and her late husband, Kenneth Donald Wingert had three children together and were members of the First United Methodist Church. She was retired from the IBM Department at Northwest Community College. Margot and Kenneth also managed a Holiday Retirement Corporation. In her younger days, she enjoyed golf and girls’ trips with her two daughters. She loved to read and was an avid bridge player.

Graveside services for Mrs. Wingert will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating the service will be Rev. Eddie Pruitt. Family and friends are asked to gather at the graveside.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Linda Wilkerson (James) of Trimble, Tennessee and Jann O’Neal-Hudson (Richard) of Southaven, Mississippi; one son, Steve Wingert of Batesville, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Vicki Phelps (Jason) of Locust Grove, Georgia, Michael Wilkerson (Amanda) of Palm Harbor, Florida, Kalley Head (James) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Cotton O’Neal of Southaven, Mississippi, Kit Wingert (Heather) of Katy, Texas and Kelli Wallace of Cleveland, Mississippi and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Wingert and one sister, Barbara Jones.

 In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contribution be directed to the Newbern First United Methodist Church, 103 West Main Street, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.
