Margie Smith Flowers, age 91, of Neboville, Tennessee, went home to heaven on October 31, 2024, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital. She was born on September 3, 1933, in Carroll County, Tennessee. Her parents were Leslie Smith of Christmasville, Tennessee, and Pauline Morris Dunlap of Trimble, Tennessee. Her stepmother was Beulah Smith, and her stepfather was Noah Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Robert "Son" Flowers, and her parents.
A Celebration of Life for Margie will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Rev. Phillip Cook will officiate the service. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Yorkville Cemetery.
Margie was an active member of Neboville Methodist Church for over 70 years. She served as communion steward for many years of those years.
Margie was a retired employee at All-Wear Manufacturing Company in Newbern as an inspection supervisor. Following the plant closure, she was employed at Penguin Book Company and later at Gibson County High School for twelve years in Dyer, Tennessee.
Margie is survived by her son, Robert Ell Flowers of Dyersburg, Tennessee and five siblings: Barbara Hart (Jerry) of Cadiz, Kentucky, Lynda Clark of Paducah, Kentucky, Paulette Barringer (Wayne) of Middletown, Virginia, Morris Dunlap (Sherry) of Dyersburg., Tennessee, and Beverly Jowers (William T.) of Dyersburg, Tennessee. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Featherston of Bardwell, Kentucky, and one brother-in-law, Bill Flowers of Trenton, Tennessee.
Pallbearers serving Mrs. Flowers will be Jeff Jowers, Mark Dunlap, Aaron Jowers, Adam Dunlap, Peyton Jowers, and Curtis Hendrix.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Yorkville Cemetery Fund. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 177, Yorkville, Tennessee 38330.
