Leatha Walker Obituary

Leatha Kay Bradley Walker, 78, died on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Wednesday, July 30, 1947, in Finley, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Frank Bradley and the late I. Z. Bishop Bradley.

Leatha Kay was married to the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Walker, for fifty-five wonderful years. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2021. She adored him deeply and missed him every single day. One of her greatest joys was listening to Jerry play and sing. A talented musician, he could play any instrument, though the guitar was his favorite. One of Leatha’s special songs was “The Fireman,” which reminded her of Jerry’s career and their life together.

Leatha Kay was a retired employee of Sylvania, where she worked for many years. She was known for her kind and generous heart—loving, caring, and always ready to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed simple pleasures like crocheting, watching I Love Lucy reruns, and playing games on her phone.

Over the years, some of her fondest memories were made around the table playing games, especially Phase 10, with her children and grandchildren. Family was the center of Leatha’s world. She treasured every moment spent with them, and her grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart. She embraced her role as “Nonny” with pride and joy, creating lasting memories that her family will forever hold dear.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Pastor Jeff Smith. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Tim Walker of Dyersburg, Tennessee, one daughter, Angelia Kay Shawver (Ryan) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, one sister, Jois Yarbro of Dyersburg, Tennessee and she was "Nonny" to her five grandchildren, Kristen Walker (Quinton Brewer), Kasie Walker, Sarah Johnson (Robert Michael Wood), Marc Johnson (Brittany Gourley) and Jacob Johnson and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wayne Walker; two sisters, Levina "Lou" Sherrod and Rachel Lewis and brother-in-law, L. P. Yarbro.
