Lawanda Taylor Harrison, 76, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.
She was a popular second Mom to many in the Milan, TN area in the 1970’s and 80’s and was very involved in local school and sport activities on behalf of her children who attended Milan city schools. She was also an avid outdoor enthusiast, and preferred to be on Kentucky Lake boating or fishing more than anything else. Later in life, she moved to Smyrna, TN and enjoyed a successful career in furniture sales with Haverty’s. “Ms. Lawanda” was beloved and is fondly remembered for her vibrant personality.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Dickey) Harrison of Dyersburg, daughter Suzanne Williams and husband Joe of LaVergne, TN, four grandchildren, Chloe Blair and husband, Josh, of Lebanon, Madeleine Pattat and husband Will of Milan, Marshall Harrison, also of Milan, and Samantha Patterson and husband Will of Chattanooga, and three great-granddaughters, Audrey and Emma Pattat and Oakley Blair; ex-husband but always dear friend, Guy Harrison of Milan and her beloved dog, Marco.
A Dyer County native, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Bennett of Dyersburg and Harold Taylor of Memphis, and three brothers Danny Taylor, Ronnie Taylor, and Ricky Taylor, all of Newbern.
The family will receive visitors at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern on May 11, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a private graveside service to follow.
