Lavata Willis Beatty

Lavata Willis Beatty, 93, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Sunday, May 11, 1930, in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert Oscar Willis and the late Edith O'Guin Willis. Mrs. Beatty was a member of the Glendale Church of Christ in Newbern, Tennessee. She was a retired clerk for the Credit Bureau in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beatty will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2023, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Bro. Serge Shoemaker. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in the Cloverdale Community. Visitation for Mrs. Beatty will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Gerald Beatty (Dedi) of Decaturville, Tennessee and Dennis Beatty (Helen) of Newbern, Tennessee;  three grandchildren, Mark Beatty of Cordova, Tennessee, Taylor Beatty of Memphis, Tennessee and Rachel Smith (Chris) of Memphis, Tennessee; six great grandchildren, Jonathan Beatty, Jordon Beatty (Anna), Jalen Beatty (Alisia), Joshua Beatty, Jackson Beatty, and Ava Smith and  three great-great grandchildren, Maverick Beatty, Madden Beatty and Gracie Bird.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Beatty; one daughter, Linda Beatty; four brothers, Dulan Willis, Tolbert Willis, Emmett Willis, and Barnard Willis and one sister Norma Underwood.

Honoring Mrs. Beatty as pallbearers will be Taylor Beatty, Chris Smith, John Tyler Willis, Mike Underwood, Paul Roberson and Kenny Luckett.
