Larry Tubbs Obituary

Larry Ray Tubbs, 86, of Weatherford, Texas, died peacefully in his home on May 25th, 2026.

Larry was born, along with his twin sister Frances, on the banks of the Mississippi river in Dyersburg, TN in 1939 to Lonnie and Bonnie Tubbs. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and other sports.  Eventually he left the nest and joined the Army, where he served several years at home and abroad, and was honorably discharged.  After his service, he had a distinguished career in sales, primarily focused on the men’s shoe industry.

Larry is survived by his wife of eight years Deborah Hartz and her sons Bill and Richard, and her daughter Julia.  He is also survived by his first wife Rose, their children DeLisa, Larry Jr., Tony, and Lonnie.  DeLisa’s husband Tim and their daughter Sara, her husband Jared, and their two sons, Fordham and Fleetwood.  Larry Jr.’s wife Lori and their children, Emily and Sophia.  Lonnie’s wife Laura, and their children Jordyn and Brody. Larry cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, always insisting on fresh pictures each visit to keep his memories fresh.

Larry was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church, attending and praising the Lord with his wife Deborah and his friends from the community. He also was a long-time member of the Fort Worth chapter of Lions International, supporting many projects making a significant impact in the community.

Larry was an avid golfer, frequently playing with his sons and with his friends at Horseshoe Bend.  He also enjoyed spending time at the senior center in Granbury, TX where he could be found playing pool with his many friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Bonnie Tubbs; sisters Juanita Bivens, Martha Baker, Francis Sanford; and brothers Hugh Mitchell “Charlie” Tubbs and Paul Dean Tubbs.

A graveside service with honors will be held on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery, 910 Shelby Dr, Dyersburg, TN 38024. Donations to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) would be greatly appreciated.
