Kimmy D. Craig, 66, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, March 30, 2026, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, July 13, 1959 in Dyersburg,, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Clyde June Craig and the late Nancy Jeanette Watson Craig.
Kimmy was the kind of person who didn’t have to try to make you smile—it just came natural to him. Whether you wanted to laugh or not, he had a way of getting you laugh. He enjoyed the simple things in life, like playing his video games, watching old-timey movies and television shows, and spending time with anything that had to do with trains and the railroad. Those interests brought him a lot of joy and comfort through the years.
He worked many years at Dyersburg Fabrics, where he was a dedicated employee until his retirement. Later in life, he continued serving his community as a correctional officer with the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and the Northwest Tennessee Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee.
He was also musically gifted and found happiness in playing the guitar and the trumpet.
More than anything, Kimmy had a deep love for animals. His heart was especially tied to his beloved dog, Blackie, who sadly crossed the rainbow bridge just two days before Kimmy. There’s comfort in knowing those two are together again.
Kimmy’s love story with his wife is one that will always be remembered with a smile. On their third date, he asked her to marry him, and without hesitation, she said yes.
Visitation for Mr. Craig will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of twenty -six years, Maggie William Craig of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Mary Beth Tucker (Rob) of Trenton, Tennessee; one grand-daughter, Paxton Tucker of Trenton, Tennessee and his animals that he loved dearly, P.J., SuziQ, Sweetie and Bella.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Deeta June Craig Starnes.
