Judy Carter Obituary

Judy Carter, 81, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born on December 9, 1943, in Dyer County, Tennessee, to the late Daniel H. Ricketts and the late Myrtle Moody Ricketts, she was one of thirteen children. Judy enjoyed baking, especially with her family, making that delicious peanut brittle and sharing it with her many friends.  Mrs. Carter was a retired employee of All-Wear Manufacturing and homemaker. She will be remembered for her love of family, kindness to others and her Christian values.  Mrs. Carter was a member of Glendale Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Serge Shoemaker. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-five  years, Clayton Carter of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Tim Carter (Brenda) of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Kellie Rollins (Ernie) of Dresden, Tennessee; one son-in-law, Hank Romo: five brothers, Mike Ricketts, Jimmy Ricketts, Larry Ricketts, Paul Ricketts and Donald Ricketts; three sisters, Sue Patterson, Gina Clark and Karen Turner; nine grandchildren, Ross Carter, Rosa Castleman (Jesse), Ana Strayhorn (Ben), Clay Medina, Porter Rollins, Kyle Rollins, Josh Romo ( Ashley), Evan Romo (Christina) and Molly Penix (Brandon) and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Angie Carter Romo; one sister, Mary Lyons and three brothers, David Ricketts, Rusty Ricketts and Johnny Ricketts. 

Honoring Mrs. Carter as pallbearers will be Clay Medina, Ernie Rollins, Porter Rollins, Ben Strayhorn, Jason Shawver, Daniel Ricketts and Ross Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaime Medina, Jesse Castleman, John Tyler Willis and Colter Allen.
