Judy Baker, 79, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Monday, March 30, 2026, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, February 25, 1947, in Fulton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Philip Barron and the late Novella Glover Barron.
Judy spent many years as a devoted employee of First Citizens National Bank, where she was a familiar and friendly face to so many. She spent the majority of her career at the Newbern branch, building lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike through her kindness and steady presence.
Outside of work, Judy took great pride in her home and surroundings. She loved working in her yard and believed it should always be well-manicured and neatly trimmed. Her flower beds were truly her pride and joy, a reflection of the care and attention she gave to everything she did. That same dedication carried into her home, where she was known as an immaculate housekeeper.
Judy also enjoyed the simple joy of staying connected with others. She loved talking on the phone, keeping up with friends and family, and never missed a chance to catch up. She was a natural people watcher and found happiness in getting out, especially when it came time to celebrate special occasions. Going out to eat was something she truly looked forward to, especially when it meant sharing those moments with the people she loved.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. David McKinney. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Garden. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Betts of Atlanta, Georgia and Ross Baker (Amie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three daughters, Kim Bradley (Ed) of Bartlett, Tennessee, Jennifer Gilliam of Lebanon, Tennessee and Renee Childress (Scotty) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Shelia McKinney (David) of Fairview, Tennessee and she was "MeMaw" to her six grandchildren, Caleb Bradley (Kara), Garian Dobson, Jessica Taylor (Andy), Erica Stephens, April Hicks and Jon Ross Baker (Lexie) and four great-grandchildren, Emmett Bradley, Marlee Dozier, Lottee Dozier and Declan Stephens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of thirty-five years, Larry Baker and a great-grandson, Jaxon Cole.
Honoring Mrs. Baker as pallbearers will be Ed Bradley, Scotty Childress, Caleb Bradley, Ross Baker, Brad McKinney and Scott McKinney. Honorary pallbearer will be Garian Dobson.
