Born Friday, April 23, 1971, in Benton, Arkansas. He was an employee of SRG in Newbern, Tennessee.

Funeral services for Mr. Kates will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Nathe Ozment . Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern,Tennessee. Visitation will be Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda Beasley (Gary) Newbern, Tennessee; his father, Joseph Cecil Kates(Carman) of Lewisville Texas; three sisters, Karen Reed (Bob) of Cisne, Illinois, Kelly Capps (Ronnie) of Tiptonville, Tennessee and Jennifer Mobly (Clint) of Grand Prairie, Texas; one step-sister, Kimberly Beasley of Newbern, Tennessee; one step-brother, Christopher Beasley (Michelle) of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Capps, Chad Lewis, Blake Brewer, Alex Brewer, Jaxon Neil, Tommy Criswell, Kevin Canada and Clint Mobly, Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Whittle and Jerry Whittle.
