John William Lucas, 84,of Newbern, Tennessee died on Friday, March 27, 2020, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Friday, October 4, 1935 in Newbern, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Onice Lucas and the late Irene Taylor Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a farmer and lifelong member of Mt. Tirzah Baptist, where he served as a deacon for over forty years.
Given current national conditions and the family's concern for the health and well-being of other, private graveside services for Mr. Lucas will be held at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. Officiating this service will be Rev. Bill Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shirley Harrison Lucas of Newbern, Tennessee; two daughters, Kelly Lucas of Newbern, Tennessee and Cindy Fain (Darrell) of Humboldt, Tennessee; one sister, Elaine Lucas Odom (Austin) of Union City, Tennessee; two grand-daughters, Channing Fain and Danniele Fain both of Humboldt, Tennessee; three nieces, Carol Hoffman (Jim) of Norman, Oklahoma, Lynne Odom of Nashville, Tennessee and Ann Pratt of Nashville, Tennessee; one great-nephew, Addison and one great-niece, Maya.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church, 1730 Tatumville Road, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.
