John Lee Adair

John Lee Adair, 77, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Wednesday, June 16, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late James Orville Adair and the late Clare Beyer Adair. 

John was a hardworking man who built his career with T.J. Lambrecht, retiring as a General Superintendent. He took great pride in his work, especially in building roads and working with heavy equipment—work he truly enjoyed.

Outside of his career, John found peace and joy in fishing, often spending hours at the water’s edge. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching all types of sporting events.

Funeral services for Mr. Adair will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Virgie Adair of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Janet McCleary of Newbern, Tennessee ; one brother, Jim Adair of Fort Wayne, Indiana and he "Grand-Daddy John" to his three grandchildren, Chris Griffith (Christie) of Waco, Texas, Jamie Holden (Jon) of Finley, Tennessee and Jessie Roy Green (Adam) of San Diego, California and five great-grandchildren, Brianna Quick (Rhys), Walker Griffith, Maddie Griffith, Jaxon Holden and Beaux Duhe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Willis Flowers.

Honoring Mr. Adair as pallbearers will be Chris Griffith, Jon Holden, Walker Griffith, Jaxon Holden, Maddie Griffith and Keith Smith.
