John Harrison Turnbo Obituary

John Harrison Turnbo,79, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born on January 28, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Grady Harrison Turnbo and the late Trothey Adelia Noe Turnbo. Mr. Turnbo was a retired truck driver for Cliffco Construction and owned his own trucking company. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Union City, Tennessee, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and drove the church bus.

The family will receive visitors from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, April 15, 2022, at First Pentecostal Church located at 2501 West Main Street in Union City, Tennessee. Funeral services for Mr. Turnbo will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 15, 2022, also at   the First Pentecostal Church. Officiating this service will be Senior Pastor Billy Uzzle and Pastor Dwayne Uzzle. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Turnbo of Newbern, Tennessee; a son, Gary Turnbo (Ruby) of Big Sandy, Tennessee; three daughters, Judy Hamil (Philip) of Union City, Tennessee, Lisa White (Randy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Carla Griffith (Tim) of Maryville, Tennessee; three sisters, Barbara Singleton, Linda Singleton, and Martha Turner, all of Dyersburg, Tennessee and he was "PaPaw" to his eleven grandchildren, Ryan Hamil, Jon-Tyler Hamil, Monica Carson, Michael White, Josh White, Kalyn Hargrove, Beth Pittman, Matt Pittman, Chloe Griffith, Lincoln Griffith, and Lequante Abbott; and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Harrison Turnbo, and Trothey Adelia Turnbo; his first wife, Bea Turnbo; and two brothers, William Turnbo, and Jerry Turnbo.

Honoring Mr. Turnbo as pallbearers will be his grandson, Ryan Hamil, Jon-Tyler Hamil, Michael White, Josh White, Lincoln Griffith, Dillon Carson, Darren Hargrove, Matt Pittman, Richard Moody, and LeQuante Abbott.
