John Artie Wakefield, 95, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Tennova Healthcare-Dyersburg Regional in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Monday, September 11, 1922 in Minnick, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Art Wakefield and the late Mary Lou Puckett Wakefield. Mr. Wakefield was a retired farmer and retired employee of R. L. Phebus Company. He was a former member and elder of the Cloverdale Church of Christ and the Obion Church of Christ before moving to Newbern, Tennessee where he was a member of Glendale Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mr. Wakefield will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. John Wakefield and Bro. Serge Shoemaker. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Obion, Tennessee. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by one son, John Wayne Wakefield and wife, Sue of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Myra Wakefield Futrell and husband, Jim of Mayfield, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Judy Cagle and husband, Greg of Newbern, Tennessee, Beth Wiles and husband, Scot of Farmington, Arkansas and Heather Kolwyck of Troy, Tennessee; two step-grandsons, Jon Futrell of Mayfield, Kentucky and Andrew Futrell and wife, Monica of Mokena, Illinois and six great-grandchildren, Matt Cagle, Andy Cagle, Abigail Sarah Wiles, Caleb Wiles, Lynsey Kolwyck and Taylor Kolwyck
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Margaret Wakefield on May 10, 2009.
Pallbearers will be John Wakefield, Jim Futrell, Greg Cagle, Scot Wiles, Matt Cagle, Andy Cagle, Taylor Kolwyck and Caleb Wiles. Honorary pallbearer will be Jon Futrell.
