JoAnn Criswell Cathey

Jo Ann Criswell Cathey, 60 of Friendship, Tennessee died on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, December 8, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Donald Criswell and Shirley Taylor Criswell of Newbern, Tennessee.  She was an employee of Tennessee Homeless Solutions, Mrs. Cathey was a talented musician and considered it a blessing to share her gift. She served as worship leader for many churches across the state.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cathey will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023, in the Chapel Of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Randy Turpin.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee.  Visitation for Mrs. Cathey will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM and on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM both at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tennessee.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Shirley Taylor Criswell of Newbern, Tennessee; three brothers, Don Criswell (Karen) of Newbern, Tennessee, Sam Criswell (Trayce) of Wellford, South Carolina and Tim Criswell of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who she loved dearly.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Cathey.

Honoring Mrs. Cathey as pallbearers will be Mason Criswell, Cannon Criswell, Zach Criswell, Mark Criswell, Jerry Crosno, Terry Funderburk, Jason Funderburk and William Pankey. Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Criswell, Max Criswell, Tage Criswell, Porter Tedford, Sawyer Criswell, Maddox Criswell, Oliver Criswell and Tony Riggs.
