Jimmy Tidwell, 77, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Friday, March 19, 1948, in Obion, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Edward Tidwell and the late Vella B. Woods Murry.
Mr. Tidwell leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and craftsmanship that touched many lives. He and his beloved wife were affectionately known throughout the community as “Pop” and “Mother,” names that reflected the caring, open-hearted way they lived their lives.
Pop and Mother were known as true givers, with loving and compassionate hearts. They opened their home to children ,caring for them as if they were their own. Their home was a place of safety, guidance, and unconditional love, and many were blessed to call them family.
Mr. Tidwell found great peace and joy on the Mississippi River. Born and raised along its banks, the river remained a special place throughout his life, especially when he was fishing—one of his greatest pleasures. The river was not only where he grew up, but where his heart always felt at home.
He also enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to country music, with George Jones being a longtime favorite. Music was another way he expressed his soul, bringing comfort and joy to those around him.
A skilled custom cabinet maker, Mr. Tidwell took great pride in his work. He taught the trade to his sons and felt especially blessed to work alongside them in recent years at Tidwell’s Custom Cabinets. Working with his sons was one of his greatest joys and a true testament to the values he passed down—hard work, integrity, and family.
Cremation services for Mr. Tidwell are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
