Jimmy Earl Morris, 70, of Trimble, Tennessee died on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Signature Health in Ridgely, Tennessee.
Born Sunday, April 17, 1949 in Tupelo, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Gerald Morris and the late Montie Ellean Moore Morris. He was a former truck driver for Tennessee Steel Haulers; former police officer for the City of Trimble, former security guard for Honeywell, former owner and operator the of the Silver Dollar Cafe and Trimble Cafe but the occupation of heavy equipment operator for construction companies was his favorite vocation. Mr. Morris was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the time he spent coaching Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Tennessee Sheriff's Association and the Hall of Fame for Signature Health Care/The Bridge of Ridgely
Graveside services for Mr. Morris will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Pierce Cemetery in Trimble, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Bro. Travis Davison. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-three years, Janice Combs Morris of Trimble, Tennessee; one daughter, Carol Morris Cumberland of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Montie Ellen Morris Spain of Trimble, Tennessee; two grand-daughters, Karissa Danielle Cumberland and Kelsey Alyse Cumberland; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Lynn Cumberland and Dawson Cole Pugh and a large extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Ross "Bubba" Morris and one brother, Tommy Gerald Morris.
Honoring Mr. Morris as pallbearers will be Lynn Norville, Richard Wilkerson, Mark Parnell, James Mathis, Lori Lacewell, LeMont Hall, Johnathan Bryan, Zach Pugh and Donald Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mid-South Riders.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be directed to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
