Jerry Don McCurdy, Sr.

Jerry Don McCurdy, Sr., 64, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, March 5, 1960, in Union City, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Connie Ray McCurdy and the late Mattie Bessie Blair McCurdy.   Mr. McCurdy was a truck driver for Ryder Trucking Company of Humboldt, Tennessee.  He was affectionately known by his CB handle "Plum Crazy" by his many friends. He was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Tennessee Titans. He loved his family and cherished the times that they shared.

Funeral services for Mr. McCurdy will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.   Officiating this service will be Rev. James Adair. Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Obion, Tennessee.  Visitation for Mr. McCurdy will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024, and from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, both at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.              

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Barbee McCurdy of Newbern, Tennessee; two sons, David Earl Owens of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Jerry Don McCurdy, Jr. (Lauren) of Dover, Tennessee; three daughters, Jessica Marie Whiteside (Terry)of Dyersburg, Tennessee, April Lynn Partee of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Chasity Renee McCurdy of Ripley, Tennessee; one step-son, Michael Dale Patterson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two step daughters, Brenda Lea Patterson of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Nancy Elizabeth Patterson of Newbern, Tennessee and he was "PawPaw"  to his eighteen grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy Dean, Hershel Dean, Robert Dean and Carlton McCurdy four sisters, Brenda Canada, Linda Suppipat, Connie Lynn Scott and Betty Lou McCurdy.

Honoring Mr. McCurdy as pallbearers will be J. D. McCurdy, Brandon Emery, Blake Patterson, Cody Barbee, Jamie Dean and Bobby Subblett. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Whiteside, David Owens and Greg Nance.
