Jere Michael Simpson

Jere Michael Simpson, 71, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born on August 27, 1954, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Newt Simpson, Jr. and the late Geraldine Smith Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a retired factory employee who worked for Honeywell, Dyersburg Fabrics, Trenton Mills, and Nordyne during his career. He was a faithful and devoted member of RoEllen Church of Christ.

Jere enjoyed rabbit hunting and had a fondness for beagle dogs. He was an avid sports fan who especially loved cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Rehoboth Cemetery. Bro. Adam Blackburn will officiate. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.

He is survived by one brother, Jeff Simpson of Newbern, Tennessee; three sisters, Sharon Simpson of Newbern, Tennessee, Judy Combs of Goodlettsville, Tennessee and Debra Blackburn (Jimmy) of Brighton, Tennessee; as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
